FOURTEEN TO TWENTY-FOUR HOURS, ONE PAIR OF HANDS

In Masafer Yatta or Tawani, one woman takes the blank cotton panel, chooses the pattern and the colours, and works it through, square by square, over the days that follow.

CUT, LASTED AND FINISHED BY HAND

The finished panel leaves the village for a family-owned workshop, where it is set into the upper by hand. The leather is chosen for how it takes the stitch and ages with wear, and the sole is joined to last.
